A Manchester-based company has launched an innovative platform to link energy companies with energy efficiency installers as part of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme.
The ‘d-Risk Platform’, launched by Eco Measure Market Exchange in collaboration with the British Board of Agrément (BBA), a major high street bank and Elmhurst Energy, aims to simplify the complex ECO compliance system for energy efficiency installers and ensure that energy efficiency measures are installed to the highest standard.
The ECO scheme puts obligations on large energy companies to fund the installation of insulation and heating measures in homes to help reduce energy consumption and fuel poverty.
The scheme has delivered 97 per cent of the energy efficiency measures installed through the Government’s domestic energy efficiency programme over the last two years, with the rest coming from the Green Deal.
“Compliance in the energy efficiency market has long been a complex and difficult system to monitor and achieve excellent standards in”, said Stephen Smith, managing director at Eco Measure Market Exchange.
“Currently the [ECO] system is open to installations not receiving the correct checks pre and post-installation, poor workmanship, [and] inadequate or no checks of the property before or after the installation has taken place.”
By applying to be put onto the d-Risk Platform installers go through a detailed checking process, therefore giving the householder, the installer and the energy company assurance that work will be completed to the highest standard.
‘Great news for installers’
“Our team of industry experts will conduct numerous checks to ensure that customers are receiving the best installers in the business”, added Smith.
“This is great news for installers and installation companies who are tired of sub-standard companies creating a bad press for the high quality installers who are proud of the work they deliver.”
