Vickers Energy Group, Trafford - SME (Energy Management)

Trafford-based Vickers Energy Group has benefited from the Business Growth Hub’s Green Growth low carbon sector support, winning a North West Green Hero Award in the process.

David Hilton, managing director of Vickers Energy Group, said: “The North West Green Hero Award win is testament to the fact that companies are starting to address their energy consumption and looking at reducing it on an on-going basis."

Established over 20 years ago, Vickers Energy Group designs, manufactures, installs and maintains advanced energy management systems (EMS) that control industrial heating and guarantee to reduce energy consumption, save money, reduce carbon emissions and improve environmental ranking.

Low carbon support

Vickers started receiving low carbon sector support from Green Growth in June 2014 to help raise its profile and increase in-bound sales leads.

As part of its resource efficiency support to Greater Manchester SMEs, Green Growth is now recommending Vickers’ products and services to relevant companies that are looking for ways to improve their energy efficiency and save money.

Awards and recognition

On Green Growth’s recommendation, Vickers also applied for and successfully won a North West Green Hero Award for Environmental Innovation in October 2014.

The award recognised the achievements of Vickers’ energy management system, which has saved customers a total of 10.5 billion kWh of energy and two million tonnes of CO2e over the last decade, equating to costs savings of more than £200 million.

More recently, Vickers was also presented with the International Green World Ambassador Award at the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice at the Houses of Parliament on 10 November 2014.

Both awards give Vickers a chance to progress through to the 2016 European Business Awards for the Environment.

‘Energy high on the agenda’

David Hilton, managing director of Vickers Energy Group, said: “The North West Green Hero Award win is testament to the fact that companies are starting to address their energy consumption and looking at reducing it on an on-going basis.

“It’s imperative that reducing energy output is high on the agenda for all companies across the UK as they have an obligation to bring down their carbon emissions. We work with our clients to assess their needs and install our system so that we save them money and help reduce their carbon footprint.”
