Tameside’s economy is made up of our people, our place and our capacity to be enterprising. As a business location Tameside has an advantage in terms of its strong and developing links to the rest of Greater Manchester, the City Centre, Manchester Airport and regional and national motorway and rail links. As a Council we are committed to enhancing this and supporting and fostering a greater enterprising culture.

The Council’s Development, Growth and Investment Service Area is working hard to support economic growth and opportunity. We can provide advice on, inward investment opportunities and incentives, business premises, grant opportunities, apprenticeships and training, and guiding you through the available business support services.

We're helping Tameside businesses to drive the transition to a vibrant, sustainable and low carbon economy. Here are some of the amazing things we've helped them to achieve so far.

Our Live Work Invest website is key platform for communication and awareness rising within the business community and wider community for Tameside. It is a central hub where site visitors and residents can access information regarding news, events, and changes in the Borough affecting the success, lives and livelihoods of local businesses and residents.

Tameside College in partnership with Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council are working to deliver ‘Vision Tameside’ – re-development strategy to bring greater economic prosperity and transform learning and skills in Tameside.

Tameside Council is committed to supporting economic growth and opportunity, and having the right employment and skills for the Borough is key to our success. We have five employment and skills related pledges as part of our commitment.
